  1. Hi Stewart I enjoyed your lure session it’s exciting using the lure you never know when a strike will come…I like your stickleback video sessions you previously did…have you ever fished for minnow and would you do a vid on it…it’s great fun fishing for them as I did last summer I tied on size 14 hook and a tiny bit of bread even a maggot would work and i was catching loads…great fun passed an hour or two. Keep up the great fishing vids and also your thought for the day, brilliant. Well done…tight lines 👍🎣

  2. Hi Stewart. Drove past you on Sunday 14th of March and papped my horn to say helllo, on watching your video the next morning I realised that the papping had made the video … apologies for that, haha. Lovely to see you catching so many gudgeon and some bream also. Loved your videos on amphibian ponds, I’ve gone and made my own now. Ps, I passed a car yesterday with a nice number plate, if it wasn’t your car then it really should be 😁 tight lines.

    1. Hello, Chris. Nice one. Fishing by a bridge several cars use their horn going over the hump so I didn’t pay attention, otherwise I’d have looked.
Yes, been enjoying the canal. Lots of fish, so all good.
That’s great re: amphibian pond. Did you use a liner? Let me know when you get visitors.
Sounds like it was my car you saw! Even the number is my year of birth so all very personalised!

      1. Yeah, I will definitely try and do a few sessions at dawn at some stage this year, there’s something magical about being by the waters edge listening to the dawn chorus.
I was looking to buy some pond liner but picked up a moulded pond second hand for almost nothing. I will let you know when we get visitors, lovely to see that you have got frog spawn in your pond so quickly.
When I saw the plate I thought that it had to be you, I love how the TNS players call it you. A big year next year then 😊

        1. Like you, Chris, I love dawn fishing.
That’s great regarding the pond. I’m a believer that if you build it, they’ll come!
I ended up getting the plate after a young player at Wolves (who had one) said to me one day you should get one. He told me how much his cost and it was far less than I thought, so I did an internet search and found the perfect match.
My initials, year I was born and nickname so all very personal!

  3. Hello Stewart, just wanted to say how refreshing I find your little canal videos. The perfect antidote to much of the modern fishing scene and they mirror my efforts intriguingly. We moved from Wales to Staffordshire last November and once settled in I’ve fished the Trent and Mersey Canal several tomes a week right through the Winter. Like yourself, I’m quite happy with a handful of Roach and Perch ( there doesn’t appear to be any Gudgeon here) but I’ve had good Bream and Perch and also what I was most hoping for, canal Chub so all in all I think I could be described as a ” Happy Camper” kind regards, Paul Huxtable.

    1. Hello, Paul. Thanks. Glad you’re enjoying the canal network, as you’ve found out there are some nice fish in there.
Love your approach to being happy just to catch as well. A happy camper indeed!

  4. Love the YouTube videos! Will you be doing any lure fishing ones soon? Is there any reason you turn off comments on YouTube?

    1. Hello, Paul. Thanks.
Yes, most definitely. Just enjoying the sit down sessions on the canal at the moment.
It’s just a time management thing, nothing untoward or negative.

      1. Hi Stewart, I love your thoughts for the day on youtube and also your fishing vids, you’ve a great positive attitude. I’ve been watching you on youtube for few years now…I could watch you fishing all day it’s so peaceful and relaxing, I use to as a kid sit on the banks of the river and cast a bait in, I be hours at the river enjoying the nature and peace and quiet and catching the odd fish, you can’t beat been out in nature I highly recommend it. I do still fish but mostly lure fishing but I may start doing some canal fishing as you’ve been doing, relaxing watching the rod tip and a flask of tea at hand…if you made an hour or two video I’d watch them all the way through as you give me an uplifting spirit. Really enjoyable keep it up. Oh and tight lines 👍🎣

        1. Hello, Declan. Love the comments, really appreciated.
It’s great isn’t it being out and about in the natural world, I love it. I was listening to a blackcap singing this morning while fishing. No cars, no noise, just the birds.

      2. Good to hear! Glad you’re enjoying what you’re doing that, that’s the point after all! You seem to be doing pretty well with the gudgeons, I’ve set myself a challenge of trying to catch on on a lure this year, I’m not sure they are as common in my local waters as they are in your canals though. I have a BAA membership so may have to venture a bit further when restrictions are eased.

        1. Indeed, Paul. Although I’m loving all the gudgeon, I’m thrilled with the occasional bigger one. I do love the mini-species.
One on a lure would be excellent.
The BAA card is great value, I’m fortunate to live so close to the Staffs/Worcs Canal.

  5. Hi Stewart. I’ve been enjoying your channel since discovering it last year. Your close shave with your phone brought a smile to my face. That’s exactly what happened to me on Tuesday, only mine actually went in. I was excited about catching my PB roach, and next thing I heard was plop! Initially, I was more upset about losing the photo than the phone. Luckily the photo was recovered, if not the phone. I had a similar vaccine experience on Saturday, but what a sense of relief to have it! Best wishes.

    1. Hello, Jonathan. Thanks.
I know exactly how you felt, having had several camcorders in the water in the past.
Like you, it’s often about the images not the equipment.
I’ve chatted with so many people who had the same experience with the vaccine. Fortunately it doesn’t last too long.
Tight lines and nice one on your roach.
