Smooth Newt Laying Eggs In My Garden Pond

Since I dug the pond earlier in the year, it’s been great to watch it mature. In particular, it was built to encourage wildlife, especially amphibians.

It’s very clear, and the smooth newts have been easy to spot, once they move around.

This afternoon, I’ve been watching a female laying eggs, and when I stepped back I could see in more detail with my binoculars.

There are more specific garden nature blog entries in the menu at the head of the page.
