As with other recent sessions of this nature, I was intending to fish in the morning and I relied on my body clock to wake me naturally.
I’ve certainly been sleeping well, it’s not as if I’m catnapping, but I’ve found that I’m awake with plenty of time to get down the canal for first light without needing to set the alarm.
You can follow the session via the video below, including a look at the set-up.
The water temperature reading was 14.2C, which was up from 13.6C on my last canal session. It’s certainly a mild spell that we’re in at the moment.
The rod I fished with was a 12’ Greys Prodigy TX and the reel was a Shimano DL2500FA, loaded with 4lb Maxima Chameleon.
Joined by a loop-to-loop knot, there was an 18’’ length of Ultra Virage fluorocarbon 2.5lb line to a Drennan Super Specialist size 14 hook.
The float was a Drennan 3BB crystal waggler. I fished with double maggot on the hook over brown crumb / loose maggots.
