He Told Me Before The Game He Would Do It, And True To His Word, That’s Exactly What The New Zealand International Did

Prior to kick-off between The New Saints and Flint Town United, I was talking with Greg Draper at Park Hall, and he said to me that he was going to break the record.

Mike Wilde was leading the club’s all-time league goals chart, with 153 during his career with TNS.

Having been on 151 longer than he wanted, due to the Covid-19 situation, Greg was so confident that I immediately bought into his prediction as well.

Fast-forward a few hours later, and after scoring half the goals in a 10-0 victory, we were doing the post-match interview.

I’m so thrilled for Greg. He’s one of the handful of players that has been at the club longer than me and in his time with The New Saints he’s become an extremely popular figure with the fans.

One of my own treasured memorabilia items is the pair of boots that he wore when he scored his 100th league goal for the club
