Another Canal Lock Session, With Thoughts, Including Angling-Related Litter

I didn’t set the alarm, as I intended to get up when my body stirred naturally. However, with a fishing trip ahead, I was up well before the general population.

Fishing right next to a lock, the target was a big perch. I may not have banked my first choice, but at least I caught my chosen species, albeit smaller.

The weather has turned very much in the last couple of days. The hot and dry period has now been replaced by a much cooler temperature and lots of heavy showers.

Still, it’s all irrelevant as far as my own angling is concerned. I just go anyway, regardless of what mother nature decides to throw at me.

I fished with the following tackle: John Wilson Masterline 9’ Debut rod and a Shimano DL2500FA reel.

The reel was loaded with 4lb Maxima Chameleon and this went straight through to a Drennan Super Specialist size 10 hook, which was attached via a blood knot.

A size 6 Dinsmores shot and a 5mm ESP shock bead created the six-inch hook-length, with a 1/4 ounce bomb above the bead.

Bait was worm over red maggots.
