After a run of three league games with just one point on the board, it was back on track for The New Saints FC, albeit in the JD Welsh Cup this time round. The comfortable 6-1 victory at Park Hall against Newtown AFC in the quarter-final game means that the club is now just two steps away from retaining the trophy.
Four goals from Dean Ebbe and one each from Danny Redmond and Kurtis Byrne ensured that, come the final whistle, the club goes into the semi-final draw along with Caernarfon Town, Cardiff Metropolitan University FC and the winners of Flint Town / Prestatyn Town.
It was another busy working game for me and that included covering the TNS Girls U-12s v Johnstown Girls U-12s at lunchtime, a brief involvement with the Northern Ireland and Wales street soccer teams, a tour of the stadium with Gareth Thomas and his nephew, Jimmy, radio commentary during the match and various other things, including the hospitality interview before the game itself.
This time round I chatted with Chris Seargeant, who after an illustrious career with the first team, is now the Academy’s Head Of Coaching. The lead image was taken by Brian Jones, the club’s official photographer.
This was my 74th game of the season and you can visit my football pages here.
