Although not the result that we wanted – as The New Saints lost at home to Newtown AFC 2-1 – nevertheless on a personal level, my memorabilia collection continues to grow.
The main addition was a shirt that I already had but is now signed by Matty Williams. Currently with the Robins, the ex-TNS player will always be remembered by the score board when we played Videoton away in the UEFA Champions League.
It was ‘Williams 78’, as The New Saints took a late lead in the game, meaning that it was 1-1 on aggregate come the final whistle, as both teams registered 1-0 away wins. However, in extra-time the Hungarians scored without reply, meaning that they progressed to the next round.
Back to the present, following the JD Cymru Premier game at Park Hall, Matty signed my shirt. That’s now in the impressive football top collection along with numerous others.
In addition, I added a team sheet from the game and a programme that was signed by cover boy, Kurtis Byrne.
