Another Hat With The New Saints FC. If The Cap Fits Though, Wear It.

The club is always looking to move forward and there are regular innovations as we do so, with one of the recent ones being the introduction of player interviews for match day hospitality. This was launched at the Connah’s Quay Nomads game, where we interviewed Ryan Brobbel, before the guests tucked into their pre-match meal.

The chat went very well, as Brobz answered questions about not only his time with The New Saints FC, but also his involvement with the Northern Ireland set-up, where he has represented the country at U-21 level.

With the next home game a week later, we doubled our efforts, as guests at the Aberystwyth Town match were treated to not only a player before their meal but also one afterwards as well.

With Connor Roberts currently on loan with the Seasiders, he was the obvious choice for the chat before kick-off. We talked about his time with Bangor City before joining The New Saints and then asked him how it’s going for him on the west Wales coast.

As with Brobbel, we also discussed international football, with Connor having featured for Wales up to and including the U-21s. He has also trained with the senior squad as well, so obviously we brought that into the conversation.

This is where in-house media is effective, especially at TNS FC, where we spend a lot of quality time with the players. As you get to know them better, this makes for more relaxed and informative interviews.

Finally, as he was the hospitality Man Of The Match, Joash Nembhard joined us after the final whistle. As well as asking him about the game from a club perspective, we talked about his own performance and how he is finding his new role in midfield, having initially signed for the club as a centre-half.

I do enjoy doing interviews very much, and although this is a new venture, it’s also something that I’m more than happy to add to the roles that I do with the club. Match days are very busy but blessed.
