Up bright and early this morning, I headed to one of the local canals for a short mini-jigging lure session after my favourite species, the perch. With the rod and reel already made up and a net and shoulder bag, it really is a case of travelling light.
It’s also very convenient and a way of getting lots of extra sessions in when time is tight. The moment you arrive at the water’s edge, you are fishing within seconds. On this occasion I was using a small Berkley rubber minnow and that did the trick.
Nothing big but, as always, it was another enjoyable session. Whether you have half an hour (like I did today) or a week on the bank, make the most of it and enjoy.
Back home, breakfast and a shower, and I’m on my way to Bryn-y-Baal in Flintshire. The Argoed Sports & Social Club is the venue for the FAW Youth Cup game between Mynydd Isa and The New Saints FC.
Fishing and football. Not a bad life is it?
