Kicking off the month of November, it was a tough one for The New Saints FC, with a visit to the Deeside Stadium. Connah’s Quay Nomads were still unbeaten in the league prior to the game, and following it they still are, as it ended 1-1.
It was the visitors who took the lead, in the 61st minute, as Dean Ebbe found the net following some great work down the left from Ryan Brobbel.
There was a golden opportunity to double the advantage late in the game when the referee pointed to the penalty spot after a handball. The players exited the area, Greg Draper took three steps back and was ready to go when the official rescinded the decision.
It proved costly for The New Saints, as shortly afterwards, Mike Wilde fired home to level the score. The result meant that there was just one point separating all three teams at the top (with Barry Town United the other) come the final whistle. The Linnets, however, still had two games in hand, but then the following day, lost 4-1 at Caernarfon.
Prior to the game I was in the TNS FC dressing room and that’s the short video below of the players chatting with the kit ready and waiting behind them.
Although a working game, it’s still included in my groundhopping pages.
