Early Morning Session On A Black Country Canal. After Perch But A Bream Steals The Show.

This session wasn’t a planned one in the sense that the alarm was set and I was ready to go. I’d had a long work day beforehand and was happy to go to bed and wake up naturally. As I was working from home, I could do that.

It’s not like I stay in bed all day anyway, even when I am really tired the day before, I’m still up relatively early. On this occasion, it was 7.00 a.m. when I returned back to the land of the living.

It was still dark, so with an opportunity to hit the waters edge at first light, I got out of bed, got dressed, loaded the car and away I went. You can see how I got on via the video below.

The place I fished is one that I have made occasional visits to in recent years. I target perch there and have had some nice fish, but it is next to a lock after all, which is a great place to target them.

As you can see from the brickwork in the photograph, it’s an old structure and the canal itself doesn’t get much boat traffic at this time of the year. I did have two pass through though in the time that I was there. I could have stayed the day and probably not had another one.
