The choice of player interview following the JD Cymru Premier MD10 victory was Greg Draper. His four goals made him the obvious choice. However, as I knew Greg was going to be a few more minutes, while I waited in the tunnel for the players to appear from the dressing room, I saw Danny Redmond coming towards me.
After a spell out injured, he came on as a substitute in the second period, so he was a definite contender for a chat. There’s no rule as to how many players you can interview after a game, so we stepped on the pitch and did our thing.
I said to Danny that it would only be a quick one, and as you can see via the video below, mentioned that at the end. Like all the players at the club, he comes over really well and I would like to think that the relationship that I have with the squad plays a big part in that.
Working in football media, it is important to get on well with the players. If you do then they feel more comfortable and you produce better content.
