Jigging For Predators On A Lake And A Pike On The Bank. Lure Fishing Is Great When You Have Limited Time.

I actually enjoy lure fishing in its own right and so fish that way by choice. However, it is a great way of getting sessions in when time is tight. You don’t need much gear and it will all fit easily in the boot of your car, so you can grab sessions here and there, but at the same time not have expensive fishing tackle on display.

I don’t carry mine around with me all the time, only if I’m going fishing either before or after work – or sometimes both – but nevertheless it definitely means that I fish a lot more than I would do otherwise.

On the lake in question, there are both perch and pike, and for a while I thought I was playing a big stripey. Not that I was disappointed when I caught my first glimpse and saw that it was a pike, all I then wanted to do was to bank it.

It made several runs before finally surrendering and yielding to the submerged landing net. It’s not a big fish at all by pike standards but I still enjoyed catching it. That’s important, don’t get taken in by size alone but appreciate individual fish in their own right.
