Another session after perch and another visit to a canal. This outing was to a spot that, although I have fished there before, it’s been a while. Regardless of where you go though, it’s all about features.
On a canal that involves overhanging trees on the far bank, the shelf or the boat channel and my favourites, the locks. They’re places where perch hang around in numbers. The lock gates themselves are a source of food as lots of small creatures can be found on there.
Then you get the brickwork that creates depth alongside the locks, as well as also attracting underwater plant growth, which in turn will shelter smaller fish and other such creatures that perch will feed on.
