After a few days away from the water’s edge while on football duty, it was good to cast a line again. Fishing for perch on a canal, I targeted the species with a worm on a size 10 hook over red maggots and brown crumb.
I was fishing by a lock and just a couple of feet from the edge. Not always, of course, but the fish aren’t necessarily on the horizon or in the middle, depending on what venue we’re fishing. Sometimes, they are right in front of us. One angler’s far bank is another’s margin. Indeed.
