I love interviewing the more experienced players, of course, but at the same time there is an added thrill when chatting to youngsters. In this case, with both Josh Bailey and Ethan Short making their JD Cymru Premier debuts, we went for a double interview at the end.
Still teenagers, it was great for them that they travelled with the team to Swansea, where we stayed in a hotel, before leaving for the game against Carmarthen Town the following day.
Just to be on the bench was a big achievement but to then come on was fantastic. Even writing this a day later, I’m still buzzing for them. While doing the interview, I suddenly felt very wet.
I knew immediately what it was as the players were passing behind me on the way to the team bus. I took a quick look to see Adrian Cieslewicz making his way alongside the pitch.
Welcome to the world of player banter and the positive thing for me is that I get included. I’ve stated in a number of blog entries in recent months the importance of getting on well with players as it produces better content. The more comfortable that they feel, the more they will express themselves in a positive way.
