I’m Sitting In A Railway Station, Got A Ticket For My Destination. Simon And Garfunkel. Interviewing Ryan Harrington At Warrington Bank Quay. Players’ Banter.

The second football-related trip of the season to Scotland with The New Saints FC, and once again at Warrington waiting for a train north of the border, this time I interviewed defender, Ryan Harrington.

In 2018/2019 he was playing in Scotland on loan for Montrose from Aberdeen, so he was the ideal candidate for a chat, especially when he featured against our upcoming opponent, Stenhousemuir, on five occasions.

While we talked on the platform, not only did we have people gather around to watch, which was great, but also players trying to put Ryan off. Welcome to the world of football banter.

Kurtis Byrne discovered us first of all, and although he’s on the far side platform at the time, you can hear him shouting. Then at the end, Adrian Cieslewicz pops his head round the corner making snoring noises when Ryan’s talking.

The heading of course, referring to the train station and the ticket, is the opening line from Simon and Garfunkel’s ‘Homeward Bound’. Incidentally, the song was birthed at Widnes railway station, which isn’t that far from Warrington.
