It was a heavy defeat (5-0), but as always, following the game we did the post-match interview, which you can watch below. It’s always more pleasant when you have won a game but that’s when character kicks in. Some managers will avoid the press, or at best, keep them waiting as if it’s their fault that the team lost.
Not Scott though. This is his third season as the manager of The New Saints and I can honestly say (in case people think that I have to say that as I’m a club employee) that he has always been available, regardless of the result.
In addition, he’s professional as well. That’s important in the world of football. When the team loses, he will not allow his personal emotions to take over. Instead he will politely face the cameras and the waiting journalists and answer questions honestly.
Prior to the interview that we did for the club’s website, Scott was surrounded by numerous Bulgarian media people and came over well. Real character shows not just when you win but how you react when you lose. A principle not just for football but life itself.
