Ahead of the draw for the UEFA Europa League qualifying round three, the tie that the champions of Wales would have wanted to avoid was PFC Ludogorets, our Bulgarian counterparts. Call it the ‘luck of the draw’ or what you want but that’s exactly what happened, when the teams were destined to face each other, courtesy of the name-pairings at the UEFA headquarters.
A heavy defeat was a disappointment, of course, but like life itself you always have to see the big picture. I enjoyed the trip overall very much and from a personal perspective, that’s now both seventeen nations that I’ve seen football in overall and the same number of games so far this season.
