For the third season on the bounce, The New Saints FC was invited north of the English border to play Rangers in a pre-season friendly. The games are all behind-closed-doors and not advertised to the public, so to get to see these type of encounters is another benefit of working in the wonderful world of football.
We’re not allowed – due to FA Wales rules – to mention the score, but obviously Rangers only want to invite teams that will give them a good game, so it’s true to say that our results and performances have been decent.
The video below gives an insight into our visit, as well as some footage of the action on the pitch. It was a busy, but blessed, couple of days in the Glasgow area and the next time I watch TNS FC’s first team play will be in the UEFA Champions League against KF Feronikeli, the champions of Kosovo.
The lead image is of the two managers – Steven Gerrard and Scott Ruscoe. I was in the ‘dugout’ before kick-off, spotted the two talking just to the side of me and took the photograph. It’s already proved to be a well-used shot in Welsh football circles – as well as further afield.
