I’ve driven through the village of Tal-y-Bont on several occasions but this was the first time I have walked and done some exploring. The village is fairly standard but the walk along the Afon (River) Ysgethin is stunning, well certainly the focus on the river itself anyway.
I love those mountain streams and there was one thing on my mind as I strolled along with my binoculars. Dipper. Well, two things actually, if you include ring ouzel but I only saw the former, although don’t be fooled by the word ‘only’, I was more than thrilled at that. With a nesting site on a side stream, the adult birds were busy gathering food to take off to feed their chicks.
While many drive through the village, how many realise that there is such stunning scenery just yards away? Life can be like that sometimes, we can be so busy racing around that we miss much. Slow down and enjoy.
