I do enjoy sea fishing very much but living near Wolverhampton, combined with having a full-time (and more) job, it means that opportunities are limited. Therefore, whenever we (my wife and I) book a holiday, it’s invariably by the coast and along with all the other stuff we take, my saltwater angling gear comes along as well.
For the last three years we have been staying at Barmouth Bay, which is a caravan park right next to the beach. Based just outside the village of Taly-y-Bont, a few miles north of Barmouth itself, it certainly ticks the boxes as far as we are concerned.
As soon as we arrive in the town, we stop off to buy some bait for the week ahead. I prefer fresh bait but with frozen lugworm the only option, you go with what is on offer. It’s not an issue though as the most important thing is that I’m fishing.
With a number of blog entries planned for the next few days from the beach, I’ll share more about rigs and set-ups in those. For now, it was great to get off the mark with my target species, the bass.
