With the visit of both BBC and S4C’s Sgorio taking up the whole of the afternoon, by the time everyone had departed Park Hall and I’d caught up with the more urgent admin, it was 5.30 p.m.
With just an hour to go till kick-off, instead of travelling back home to the Black Country, I decided to head north on the A483 and watch Coedpoeth United FC Reserves play Llangollen Town FC Reserves.
Within minutes of the start, I thought to myself that a) there will be plenty of goals and b) I will be very surprised if they end up with 22 players on the pitch come the final whistle.
The final score was 3-3 so I was right on that front as well as one red card. That was for the Llangollen goalkeeper who punched an opposition player.
I thought there was going to be another two dismissals when a couple of players were involved in a tussle on the ground but the referee was more lenient on that occasion.
Llangollen took an early lead, Coedpoeth equalised, but then the visitors went into a 3-1 advantage, in spite of being down to 10 men.
The home side came back though in the second period to make it all-square at the end.
