Perch And Bream On The Canal And Some Unusual Encounters (1063)

With a number of canals in the local area, they are the obvious venues when time is tight and I want to grab a quick session. Many of my outings are an hour or less but lack of time doesn’t necessarily mean to say that you have to cut back on quality.

Nothing big this time round but I had a few nice enough perch and a bream, which were all very welcome considering that the water temperature has fallen sharply in recent days and it was hard going. I had lots of half-hearted plucks.

You can watch the session via the video below and the tackle that I fished with was as follows: John Wilson Masterline Debut quiver tip rod. Shimano 2500 DL2500FA reel. Maxima Chameleon 4lb mainline. Drennan Super Specialist size 16 micro barbed hook. Hooklength created by a bead and a size 4  Dinsmores split shot. Lead 1/4 ounce bomb. I fished with red maggot over loose red maggots and brown crumb.
