As a groundhopper, I’m just as happy visiting playing fields as national stadiums. As far as I’m concerned, it’s all football and it’s all good. The latest addition to the list of new venues is Wombourne Leisure Centre where I saw Trysull Tigers FC beat Dudley Rangers United 6-3 in the Beacon Football League.
With games played on Sunday afternoons, it’s a good league to follow if you’re a groundhopper in the Black Country area. I’ve been tracking the league from this season and this was my third game.
The goal sequence was as follows:
19′ The deadlock is broken and it’s 0-1 as Dudley take the lead with a close-range effort following good work down the left.
41′ It’s all-square as a ball in from the right sees a good shot from close-range level the scores 1-1.
45′ Trysull leave it late, in fact the last kick of the half as they take the lead. A long ball through is slotted home from the edge of the area and it’s 2-1.
47′ Dudley are back on level terms with a cool finish in the area and it’s game on at 2-2.
63′ We pass the two-thirds stage of the match and the home side are back in front with a header, following a cross from the right. 3-2.
67′ Back in the game for the visitors as a great shot gave the keeper no chance. 3-3.
71′ Trysull are back in front again, as the keeper parries a ball that has been played in from the left, which is then tapped home. 4-3.
73′ The lead is extended with a penalty that is slotted into the bottom right corner. 5-3.
78′ It’s 6-3 as the ball crosses the line for the final time in a crowded penalty area.
