Following Connah’s Quay Nomads’ draw the evening before, it was a golden opportunity for The New Saints FC to extend the lead at the top of the JD Welsh Premier League to three points.
However, it wasn’t to be and after falling behind in the 10th minute and not getting the much-needed goal that could have inspired the team to victory, in the end the penalty with a quarter of an hour to go was just enough to avoid defeat. You can’t win them all and if not then a draw is always better than losing.
The last time I was at Latham Park was on Boxing Day 2017 when the teams again drew. On that occasion it was 3-3. It’s always nice to visit new grounds and as a groundhopper that’s something I enjoy doing.
Working for The New Saints though means that there is a lot of ground repetition, especially in a set-up where we play half the teams four times each season in the league alone. The way that I see it though is that it’s all football and it’s all good.
It was my 54th game of 2018/2019 and with 27 new grounds added, I’m not doing too badly. When I get the chance to go to a match that’s my choice though it’s mostly a new tick to the list.

Following the match at Latham Park, I interviewed manager Scott Ruscoe and goalscorer, Greg Draper, for TNS TV. I also did commentary on TNS Radio and that’s the lead image prior to going on air.
