It’s feeling very autumnal of late and some breezy spells that have resulted in crisp, brown leaves littering the ground have added to that. Arriving on the Staffs/Worcs Canal at first light with the water shrouded in mist, it was a reminder that summer is now behind us. Welcome to autumn.
Although I had regular bites, it’s true to say that the intensity wasn’t what it has been during the summer months. However, I still caught though. Nothing big but always nice to get my favourite species on the bank.
I fished a spot that has been very kind to me in recent years, but as we know in angling, there are never any guarantees. That’s the mystery of the unknown. When your tip starts to move it could be a 4oz perch or a 4lb fish of a lifetime. You never know until you strike.
The tackle I used was as follows:
Tackle used: John Wilson Masterline Debut quiver tip rod. Shimano 2500 DL2500FA reel. Maxima Chameleon 4lb mainline. Drennan Super Specialist size 8 micro barbed hook. Hooklength created by Korda skok bead and a size 4 Dinsmores split shot. Lead 1/4 ounce.
