The games over the weekend didn’t throw up any real contenders, but with two fixtures on Tuesday evening, as has been the case so far this season one scoreline rose to the top of the pile.
I was very impressed with Caernarfon Town’s performance against The New Saints a couple of weeks ago and the 3-0 scoreline flattered the visitors.
Therefore, although it was a shock result in many ways, I wasn’t that taken back personally with their 1-0 on Deeside against Connah’s Quay Nomads in MD5.
Nevertheless, it was an impressive win and definitely result of the week as far as I’m concerned. If the Canaries had beaten TNS instead of losing, they would now actually be top of the table.
It may only be early days but we are just short of one-sixth of the way through the season already. Sean Eardley’s side have shown that they aren’t here to simply make up the numbers.
A place at the top table of Welsh football for Caernarfon Town is only a good thing for the domestic game in Wales. The fan base alone is a massive tick for the league but results like this will be the icing on the Coffis cake.
