There were three results that caught my eye. First of all, Newtown’s 2-0 against Bala Town was impressive. Having been up there consistently for a number of seasons, there is no reason to doubt 2018/2019 will be any different for the Lakesiders.
Secondly, Carmarthen Town got their first win in style as they beat Cardiff Metropolitan University FC. Again at home and another 2-0, it was definitely a contender for result of the week.
However, it was the third 2-0 home victory that did it for me, as Barry Town United ended Connah’s Quay Nomads’ 100% start to the season.
Although I do believe that The New Saints will lift the league trophy for the eighth successive season come next spring, nevertheless I see Andy Morrison’s side as the one that will push them all the way.
Therefore, although not a surprise as far as Barry are concerned because they are a very good side themselves, nevertheless most neutrals probably expected a fourth win on the bounce for the Nomads.
In addition, the league’s tightest defence after MD3 having conceded just one goal in three games, found themselves breached twice in ninety minutes.
