In The Shadow Of The M5 – Dudley Town 1 Pegasus Juniors 2 (898)

Two days ago I was in the national stadium of Gibraltar with planes landing and taking off on the runway alongside the stadium. Today it was York Road in Oldbury with the adjacent M5.

Both were ticks on the groundhopping journey and whether in the press box commentating on a Europa League game or watching Dudley Town in their first match of the season, in the 10th tier of the English system, it’s all football and it’s all good.

Pegasus, the visitors from Herefordshire looked decent from the start but Dudley soon got in their stride. Edging the game slightly they fell behind though when a defensive error on the edge of the box gifted the Redmen a goal, as we hit the one-third stage of the game.

Dudley equalised though, ten minutes into the second period and watching on I thought that would be a fair enough result. However, a final twist in the tale saw a well-executed chip beat the home keeper.

That remained the score come the final whistle. I enjoyed the game but then again I get something from every match that I go to.
