Welcome to Barmouth – Where the mountains meet the sea. Having holidayed in blocks during our married life with Pembrokeshire, Anglesey and Kinmel Bay all featuring over the years, this is our third trip on the bounce to Barmouth. Well, Tal-y-Bont to be precise, a few miles up the coast.
Arriving in the small coastal town via some stunning scenery in the drive across Wales, the first thing on arrival was to buy some lugworm. Then, after checking in the caravan, it was down to the beach for an hour over high tide.
The conditions were horrendous with heavy rain and strong winds making fishing very difficult. I didn’t catch anything but at least I was out there and as I so often say, as long as your bait’s in the water you’ve got a chance.
Minutes from the coast itself there’ll be plenty of sessions and fish to photograph over the next week. That’s the plan anyway, and as they say, watch this space.
Although the vacation blogs are written as they happen, I’m publishing them a week later. The last thing you should do if you’re on holiday is advertise an empty house on the internet. So by the time you read this I will be back home.
