Over But Not Out (799)

My fourth full season with The New Saints Football Club came to an end last Friday with the game against Cardiff Metropolitan University FC. Well, as far as first team activity on the pitch is concerned anyway. There are still a number of other things going on before the wider activity of 2017/2018 ceases.

Saturday was our annual awards evening where the main room at Park Hall was transformed into a very impressive set-up, as the Men’s and Ladies’ first team were in attendance.

I wear many hats at the club, one of them is Chaplain. My faith is very important to me and again it was an honour to be invited to say grace. As it was a formal event it made the programme as well. In a society that is ever increasingly anti-Christian, it’s good that not everyone feels that way.

I covered the event for the club’s social media and after a great evening went to bed about 3.00 a.m. Up five and a half hours later, I was back at Park Hall for the Academy presentation. With groups from U-7s right through to U-16s they were split into three events.

It was a great privilege to be asked to host again this year. I got back into bed in the early hours once more but as always it’s a pleasure and never a burden. It’s been an interesting journey over the last four years and I’ll be starting my fifth season with the club on June 4, when the players are back in training.

The second and third embedded posts are from the main event and Academy event respectively. You can tell the quality of the images as they’re from our official photographer, Brian Jones. He’s very good.
